Hopeful passenger is a performance spread across the OSL buses and bus stops of Oulu’s city centre, encouraging us to open our minds to fellow passengers and to observe the special balance of intimate and public space of public transport.
Hopeful passenger is a performance that creates small moments of encounters between passengers on buses and at bus stops. The performance is experienced by following the performer around and therefore the commuters by chance become a part of the performance.
Public transport is a place of convergence, where people are thrown together in unexpected ways. In public transport, we don’t have the power to choose with whom we share space with. This forces us to acknowledge each other’s existence and to meet others outside our immediate circles, even if only for a fleeting moment and in micro expressions. Hopeful passenger wants to highlight how being a passenger on a bus exposes us to sharing space with people randomly and becoming aware of how this feel.
Where?
On Oulu regional transport bus routes 1, 2, 7, 9, 11, 27 and 50 as well as the bus stops for these services.
Departure point and time?
Please note that the departure time from stops are estimates. We kindly in ask you to arrive at the stop mentioned below in advance. The performance is taking place on normal routes and that is why the number of participants is limited.

Ticket?
The performance is free, but to participate, you need a valid bus ticket, and you need to reserve a place, which you can do on Holvi -ticket booking service.
Depending on your chosen timeslot and therefore bus route, a bus ticket with zones varying from Lähi-A, Lähi-B or Lähi-C will be required. Refer to list departure point and time above.
You can get your OSL-ticket through the OSL app or you can pay when getting on the bus by using any bank card with contactless pay or you can buy a value ticket. If you have valid season ticket, no extra ticket is needed.

Please note that there are a limited number of accessible seats on the buses. Additionally, the performance includes short distances and bus transfers, so be prepared for some movement during the show.
